The Government College of Education, Orathanad was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu on 27th July 1957. Originally affiliated with the University of Madras and subsequently Bharathidasan University, the college's affiliation was officially transferred to the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai in 2008.

Undergraduate Intake: 100 Seats

Bachelor of Education (B.Ed)

A 2-year professional teacher training degree program recognized by NCTE. Designed to equip prospective teachers with pedagogical skills, classroom management techniques, and practical teaching experience across various school subjects.

Postgraduate Intake: 50 Seats

Master of Education (M.Ed)

A 2-year professional post-graduate degree focused on teacher education, educational administration, research methodology, and curriculum development. Prepares educators for leadership roles in educational institutions.
